Shah Ahmed

Shah has lived in Leytonstone for forty years. As well as being a local business man he has been involved in several local community groups, including Waltham Forest Fairtrade Campaign Group and Leytonstone Area Residents Association. He is a trusted community campaigner on a wide number of local issues as well as an active fundraiser for charity. For three years he was Chair of the Leytonstone Festival and is currently a governor at Leyton Sixth Form College.

Liz Hayman

Liz has lived in Leytonstone since 2004 and has been the Chair of Bushwood Area Residents' Association ('BARA') since 2008. Through her role as BARA Chair Liz is involved with other local community and business organisations such as e11Bid Company, Safer Neighbourhoods and Friends of Wanstead Parklands. Liz is also a Trustee of City and Hackney Alcohol Service, a charity which offers a range of community-based services with the aim of reducing the adverse consequences for individuals of alcohol and other drug misuse.

Joga Kabra

Now semi retired and extensively involved in community cohesion activities, Joga has a varied and geographically diverse employment history. Originally from India, Joga studied at London University and over 35 years has worked in the higher educational sector in Nigeria and schools and Further Educational institutions in East London, including 15 years as a senior post holder. Joga has professional and personal interests in marketing, performance coaching and counselling. A resident of Waltham Forest since 1982, Joga is committed to supporting local volunteer groups working with vulnerable young people and adults.

Kate Duffy

Kate has been a Leytonstone resident since 1991 after moving to London from the Midlands in 1989. She is a keen community player, regularly attending the local Ward Panel and for the last 8 years has been a committee member on The Bushwood Area Residents Association (BARA) In 2014, as part of the Leytonstone Festival, Kate co- promoted a 3 band music night at The Ex Serviceman's Club, one band being Leytonstone's own The President Lincoln whom Kate plays tin whistle with. Having worked in the events and ticketing industry for over 20 years she is heading up our Events Team and looking forward to the challenges of finding new and exciting events for the future.

Jackie Withnall

Jackie has worked in Education in Newham for 38 years. She retired from the Headship of New City Primary in 2012 and now works in initial teacher training, mentors senior leaders and works on a family project. She is very involved with a number of charities and community groups including The Renewal Programme, Contact the Elderly and Crisis. She is also a stalwart member of local theatre group The Woodhouse Players. Jackie was born in Walthamstow and has lived in East London and Essex all her life.
