How We've Helped

The Cygnus Trust celebrated its first birthday in 2011 with a cheque presentation at the House of Commons, hosted by John Cryer, MP for Leyton and Wanstead.

Attending the birthday celebrations were Trustees and Members of Cygnus along with representatives of the first five organisations to receive Cygnus funding. John Cryer MP presented cheques to:

  • Carefree Kids – A children's charity based in Waltham Forest, providing emotional support to children, teenagers and their parents and carers.
  • Friends of Redbridge Music School – to help develop education, social skills and confidence in the young through music.
  • SLADA (South Leytonstone Area Development Association) who are creating training and employment opportunities in areas of economic deprivation.
  • Aldersbrook Baptist Church lunch club for the elderly to help with their work providing lunches and social interaction for the elderly.
  • St Gabriel's Church for the provision of summer play scheme for children themed on the Olympics.
